The Black Hills area has received lots of rain this year so the creek that flows through the canyon had plenty of water to show off the rapids and numerous falls along its course. The highlight of the trip was pulling off the road and viewing the Bridal Veil Falls, really cool as the water tumbled and splashed down the 60 ft course of rocks.
There were several smaller falls along the route, and I had to stop and check them all out as they appeared. Lots of deer, a mixture of White-Tail and Mule deer greeted us as we rounded the numerous sharp corners, but they were bashful and wouldn't pose for a photo.
The road through the canyon is a wide two-lane, blacktop road with lots of pull-off areas for hiking or photo ops and I can only imagine how crowded this place is during the summer tourist season, we were fortunate enough to have the road almost all to ourselves. It's a super scenic yet short drive so if you should find yourself in the area, it's a must-see adventure.
