Made the drive up 287 down into Miles TH this morning to see how things looked after the fire. A warm 56 degrees when I pulled into the ranch area. Started down West Pinto Trail. About a half mile in you enter the burn area which continues for as far as you can see. There were a couple of parts which were spared, however most of the area was schorched by the fire. The condition of the trail itself is umm well, the trail does not exist anymore in a good amount of spots. Due to the fire it appears there was some major flash flooding in the creek area as it is full of debris and has eroded away lots of areas. There was a small amount of water but anything higher and it would not be passable. Such a shame as this used to be a beautiful hike, I dont think I will ever hike it again unless some major trail repair is done and I dont see that happening. I hiked down to Oak Flats where the fire was even worse, however the far portion of it (where the Spencer Spring Trail sign is) was not touched. Tons of manzanita still in that area. The old corral near the Campaign intersection has been destroyed. There are maybe two logs, the gate and some wire left. I'm sure a ton more areas in the wilderness look the same especially anything near water.
