| no partners | | This was a fun change of activity. I own a mountain bike, but I can't say I've ever REALLY done Mountain Biking. Doing this at a ski resort made it even more fun, because all the runs go downhill, with a ski lift to cover all the uphill work. Oh yeah! We rented bikes from the Mountain Activity Center (MAC), grabbed our lift tickets, geared up with safety equipment and hit the slopes.
My friend Dean and I racked up about 15 runs over 6-7 hours, breaking once for lunch. We started with a couple easy green runs then immediately jumped into the blue runs. Not wanting to break any bones or hug any trees, this is where we spent most of our day. Runs such as Hootinanny, Dream Weaver, Lucid, Raging Bull and Skyline were some of the favorites. Skyline on the West facing slope was clearly the number one run in my book. A very long run, with lots of rollers and jumps. Being only a beginner at this, I hit the jumps with caution. My brakes were getting a good work out, that's for sure. That didn't stop me from catching the occasional air.
This was definitely a thrill ride similar to a self controlled roller coaster. We went as fast as we felt we could safely go, pushed our own limits a bit, but wrapped up the day with a nice dinner at the resort and without injury. |

| This is my gym. I have to travel down a bumpy road to get there. There are no treadmillls, no machines, and no personal trainers. I walk..I run..I breathe the fresh air. I can go any time I want, as much as I want and there is no membership fee. |
