Together with a small handful of fellow social distance hikers we set out for a day of adventure. The information I found here on Little Horn Mountains said that Hovatter Rd was gravel and dirt car okay. I beg to differ. At first it's fine then turns to a deep sandy area that feels like snow. Don't slow down!!! It continues like that for about a mile, really don't slow down. It does switch back to dirt and gravel but only for a short distance then back to deep sand.
Whew we made it. Maria's trailhawk had no issues, while my santa fe fish tailed it's way through. All was worth it when we arrived to look up at a beautiful arch. We all scrambled out of our vehicles and hiked the short distance up.
The prize was a large beautiful arch with 3 smaller arches within. After taking photos and climbing around a bit we headed over to a cave we saw just to the right. We spent a little time investigating and taking in the views then headed back to our vehicles to locate the next arch... |
