| partners | | the main attraction of the weekend, this was our second hike in the white canyon wilderness
we were able to drive to the fence near the artisian well, with a 3/4 mile road walk to the trailhead
excellent setting with battle axe next door
easy walk to begin with, then canyon walls close in
numerous creek crossings with smooth white granite channels appearing
we checked out a few viewpoints
travel became a little more challenging with some bouldering and bushwhacking required
we stayed dry for a couple miles, then decided it would be easier to stay in the creek for some of the obstacles
one pool was waist high, but the workaround didn't seem worth doing
about two miles in, one section was very brushy
some beautiful areas - very scenic canyon
we passed the bat cave again, and came to the waterfall at the end of the official route
must not have taken a photo of it
pondered trying to get up, but it looked pretty slick, with a deep pool to negotiate below
the return trip went quicker, knowing where the obstacles were and heading downhill
nice to see white canyon in person, after viewing photos
perfect weather, good company, lots of wildflowers
great idea for the weekend, john - thanks! |
