| I can not even begin to describe the aches, pains and exhaustion I'm feeling right now....but trust me---it's up there with the all time highs.
I did the Rim to River and back (about 15 miles) with Tim and a dozen or so other howling and glowing people under the light of the full moon. This trail is a nice one for nighthiking especially in the hot July temps. Standing on the bridge and looking out over the Colorado River and seeing the moonlight dance across the rapids was awesome. It was a great way to stay out of the sun's harsh rays while getting a little time in the canyon and with friends. We started on the trail at 11:30pm---3 hours to the river and 4 hours back out. Interestingly enough we saw 2 people on the trail around midnight with a camera and a massive tripod plus another dozen night dwellers at the river around 3am.......wide awake. Who would have thunk all these people would be wandering around in the dark!
This was actually my 3rd night hike (Tony Cabin + Zion Narrows) and I did thoroughly enjoy it however, it really isn't the prime time for taking photos. (unless you are Matt Hoffman.)
Great time! |
