Visited this often missed high perch with incredible views of West Baldy Trail and meadows below.

Escaped Phoenix's surface of the sun temperatures to find monsoon season on Baldy just beginning with evidence of prior rainfall Thursday too. Greer reported monsoon rainfall action on Thursday too but nothing Friday which isn't unusual for the monsoons--East or West Baldy can experience rain and not the other. 10 cars at West Baldy TH but East Baldy lot was empty at 9am but I waited out the rain before enjoying a rain cooled 60F overcast day to the peak.

Only a few people on the trail with most doing the entire Baldy loop which is becoming especially popular even for newbies.

Thought the morning rain might keep the usual afternoon monsoon storms away but it just delayed them from their usual 11am start with distant thunder beginning about 1pm.

Experienced some light rain followed by about 20 minutes of heavier rain on trek down but no lightning or thunder.

People should be prepared for monsoons on Baldy as NWS forecast yesterday was 70 percent chance of storms

Typical monsoons on Baldy contain frequent lightning, lots of thunder, and often hail.
