| no partners | | Had to abort Friday evenings snowshoe trek up Mt Ord as snow was too fresh/powdery with zero float. After aborting I took a scenic drive up through Payson which was a ghost town (snow emergency) and up to nearly Kohls Ranch b/4 returning to the Valley.
Luckily they needed to service the equipment atop Ord so the snowcat left a pretty firm surface behind for my return trek on Sunday afternoon.
Unfortunately, I should left the snowshoes behind in car instead of leaving them hidden in the snow--as when I returned my Orange MSR Lightning Ascents were nowhere. ( looked everywhere just in case my GPS & memory were playing tricks on me )
Got passed after mile 5 by a very cold trail runner but other than that (plus the snowshoe fail) it was a good hike with some record snowfall. |
