| partners | | I made a special trip to the red-hot state of Arizona to do some hiking with my brother Gary. I thought October would be a cooler month to hike, but the 30 years since I moved had erased the memory that October is still hot!! Don't get me wrong - I love the heat, so I'm enjoying my visit.
We started our hike at O-5-dark-hundred. With the half moon, it was just bright enough to see. We got some great pictures of the twinkling city lights and the rising sun. There were plenty of other hikers, runners, and cyclists trying to beat the heat.
The greatest highlight was spotting a Great Horned Owl perched on a saguaro cactus. The silhouette of it against the early morning rays was spectacular. We even were serenaded by yipping coyotes in the distance.
I'm looking forward to our next few hikes! |
