#11 of 50 hikes. This hike was a work-out! I started at my work's parking lot and it was an uphill climb all the way to the top. It started up the Living Room Trail then branched off on the Mount Wire Trail. Even with the warm, spring-like temperatures, I was surprised to find parts of the trail that still had snow and ice, and of course mud. The old airway beacon tower at the top of Mount Wire was a nice little reward for your hard work plus the magnificent views of the surrounding mountains ranges. The tower was climbable if you wanted another 25 ft elevation, but I decided against it. (nervous about exposed heights) Continuing the loop, I jogged down a different trail which was steep and I expected that, but the last part was very steep and too treacherous with loose gravel/shell rock fragments that was a massive slip hazard, which wasn't expected. I had to "slide" down on my hands and feet. A not-so-dignified ending to a hike that would have been great. :( Even my GPS watch didn't like it and sent a distress call to my husband. I was so flustered with the last part of the trail that I didn't even think to take any pictures of it. ](*,)
Update...went back two days later to trail run on the Bonneville Shoreline Trail. I stopped to take a picture of the last portion where it was very steep and had to "slide" down.
