I used to live right by Echo/Stony Mnt and always liked the solitude over there better anyway. Went up the ridge on Echo to the top and then down between the houses over to #100. From here I went north around Stony Mnt and thats when I got the idea of doing the whole ridgeline. Ascended at the north most point of Stony. After doing the Supe ridgeline a few weeks ago, this ridgeline is much more rugged and narrow. Also, the rocks up there were super sharp and thin. One slip and there will be blood. Not much of a path at all up there but was easy to follow the ridge all the way down. To my surprise there was another guy up there who was clearly lost and asked if he should keep going down the ridge to get down. I advised him to just go back the way he came. As I got closer to the highest peak, there were some very clear trails coming up to the area from the east. The top of Stony was a lot bigger that I thought it would be. Went down between the houses again and then back up on Echo to finish up the last stretch of the ridgeline. Kinda did a figure 8 with the whole thing. Route Scout keeps stopping my track and then it catches up with a straight line, so not sure whats going on. Beautiful freakin day. |
