But the temperature topped out at a balmy 2 degrees and for the first time all week, I used a neck gaiter and kept my hat on the entire time.
These afternoon loops are great, after the morning rush has all finished and headed home. Of course, it's doubtful there were many folks out enjoying today's chill to begin with.
I opted for a clockwise loop which features a long steady climb with a steep descent at the end. I figured if I had done the loop ccw, I would have worked up a sweat on the steep climb at the beginning and then had to deal with being wet for the rest of the loop on brisk day.
The trail was nicely broken, and last night's snow left everything soft and fluffy on my feet and the temperature kept all the scenery frosty through the day. |
