| no partners | | The trail out was ok, but I didn't care for the slope up to the peak. I hated it so much, I took a trail that did not appear on my map, and wound up in a McMansion nightmare to the east of the preserve. Someone spent a lot of money to build a private trail to the summit of Ridge Crest Trail and it seems to get next to no use. It was really eroded, but there are cairns.
I walked paved road back to the wash, and then took the wash to the lot. It added miles, I added 2. AEG is about the same. Whatever.
I saw 2 Desert Tortoises. One adult on the trail shortly before I left the trail for the slope to the summit, and a small 3 to 4 inch juvenile on the private trail.
With tortoises and disgusting humidity thanks to the 70 degree dew point I felt like I was back in Florida. I hated living in Florida. |
