| no partners | | After bidding farewell to my winter visitors, following our jaunt up and down Kiwanis Trail, I decided to extend the SoMo hiking a bit, and headed over to the Buena Vista Lookout.
From there, I ventured east on the National Trail, with an open itinerary. At the Guadalupe Ridge fork, I hung a right and climbed up on the ridgeline (aka Midlife Crisis). The trail is well defined (mostly) and offers much better views than the National through this stretch, IMO. Not just for the views, but also the comparative solitude. I didn't see another soul on this stretch.
Looking down on Fat Man's Pass, I decided to do the Hidden Valley loop, and dropped off the Ridgeline, cross country to rejoin National at FMP juncture. No trail that I could find for this descent, but the bushwhacking was minimal.
The Hidden Valley loop was fun, as usual, with decent amount of traffic.
After popping out on the east end of Hidden Valley, I motored back on the National, to get back to the Saturday chores at home ... |
