Being it was a rather dry winter nothing was very green with the exception of the Mesquite trees that were just starting to put out leaves. Great views of the Santa Rita Mountains and Mount Wrightson, Whetstones and Mustang Mountains. To the south the Huachuca and Chiricahua Mountains. Trail conditions were excellent since it is the Arizona Trail. There was no water along the trail except at Kentucky camp and that is from a faucet.
Spent a little time at Kentucky Camp going through the restored buildings and the historic information on the camp. There is a Bed No Breakfast there, not sure how you make reservations for that but I'm sure on line you can get information. Great weather for hiking but a bit windy on the ridges on the return trip. |
