| partners | | Andy and I did a quick hike Xmas Eve morning close to home to get a few miles in. Started from the Phon D Sutton mid lot and hiked the Salt River 100 Trail out to its terminus and came back, then hiked the Coon Bluff Loop, or at least most of it. There are several other unmarked trails all around Coon Bluff. We just did most of the crestline and then looped around the bottom. We lost the trail at first following the track I downloaded but found the actual trail eventually. On the last stretch we saw a biker coming the other way and it turned out to be @CannondaleKid . We stopped and talked a bit. He and Andy had never met, but Andy has used many of Mark's tracks over the years and was happy to meet him.
We started just after 6am and hiked the first hour in the dark and cold. Once the sun hit us, things warmed up very quickly. We got sidetracked at one point in the dark not being able to see the trail very well. It was funny on the way back how different everything looks when you can see. Finished up around 10:30am, nice to get out on the holiday and enjoy the nice weather. |
