Not sure why more folks don't do this hike. The first three miles have fantastic views. Granted, it is a little drive to the hike, but there is roadside parking, so no dirt roads to get to the hike.

The first 3/4 mile you get about a 700' elevation gain before you get a short break, then it is up hill for another mile. At 1.7 miles you have about 1,200' AEG and can begin to relax a bit.

Views of the lake and the Superstitions are fantastic for the first half of the hike (ie 3 miles or so). Then the view is more along the lines of rolling hills as you make your way to the Mills Ridge Trailhead and then start making your way back.

This trail is part of the Arizona Trail, so clearly defined and mostly easy to travel (with the exception of the first 1.7 miles, it's a bit steep.

A great trail well worth the trip.
