| no partners | | The lovely Mrs Dilling and I made the drive down to the San Carlos Apache Reservation to see the poppies at Peridot Mesa. It was a beautiful display for sure. They are close to peak and the entire mesa was blanketed with poppies. On the other side towards the farm lands, a really beautiful (and fragrant) yellow flower was all over the place too. Quite a color show.
You need a permit from the tribal parks/recreation office located just south of Noline's Market on Hwy 77. It's $10 per person or couple.
The mesa is located on Hwy 77 inbetween milepost 268 and 269. There are no trails, but a couple of graded dirt roads that go up to the mesa from Hwy 77. We explored the mesa and took a tons of pictures.
There were other flower-gazers there as well, but I am positive it wasn't the zoo that Pichaco Peak State Park was.
A nice day trip from Mesa for sure. |
