Great hike through magnificent country. Took the dogs - met many other friendly dogs on the trail - all of which were very well behaved. Although it never felt crowded, it was very clear that this is a popular trail. It seems that this trail gets pretty heavy equestrian use, and some maintenance is needed to mitigate some of the worst erosion. In places the trail is as wide as a road - and in others, it's an 18" deep rut. Overall, though, it's one of those really great trails that never feels long, or hard, but gives you just enough challenge and great scenery to make it worth spending the day out there. Water in the tank had a thin sheet of ice in the morning, which was gone when we turned back. Must be getting chilly there at night!
