Got off the plane in Denver, picked up a rental, and decided to get the legs warmed up on this one. This area is very easy to access and there are a lot of trails/destinations in the immediate area. The trailhead for Sniktau is also the starting point for Cupid peak. Marmots were everywhere. Every once in a while you would hear them yell (sounds like a high pitched chirp almost) and then bound off in a seemingly random direction.
This mountain is located just south of the 70 and offers fantastic views for little effort. To the north you can see Ptarmigan Peak Wilderness, Vasquez Peak Wilderness, and James Peak Protection Area. To the south you are looking directly at Torreys Peak.
James Peak Protection Area was up next. |
