| no partners | | I got behind on uploading and am just getting around to this trip. First time in Florida Canyon and second time in the Santa Rita Mountains. The first mile or so of this trail was full of wildflowers of all colors.
The trail is in decent shape until you reach the sign that says .7 miles to Armour Spring. It isn't bad but the whole area around Armour Spring and the push up to McCleary Peak is less obvious and the closer to the peak you get the more overgrown it gets. The Armour Spring area had water running and a bit of snow still. The snow melt seems to get the best of the mountain side and the whole trail kind of slides or droops down.
McCleary Peak is interesting. To the South you can see Wrightson poking out behind Crest Trail and the rest of the Range lays itself out to the Southwest. The top of the peak reminded me a bit of Mazatzal Peak. I was solo on this one and took my time. Only saw one other hiker out of Florida Canyon. |
