With cooler weather present it was time for my great experiment. Getting to the Recharge Ponds on foot. After about a mile of walking and scrambling under a gate over a culvert I made it. Only one of the ponds had water and it was close to where I had entered. Present were the usual suspects, Black Necked Stilts, Long Billed Dowitchers, Greater Yellowlegs, Killdeer, some Egrets, Wigeons and Northern Shovelers in with the Mallards. Instead of going back the way I came I left along the canal going east to 99th Ave. With even cooler weather this will be an easy do.
