I've probably done 1862' over a hundred times via the Thunderbird Park H2 trail, but after SpiderLegs informed me it was actually the highpoint for the city of Glendale, I decided to bag it off trail. I left my front door (it's that close) at 4:35 am and enjoyed a few sprinkles along with coyote calls in the darkness as I travelled across the creosote flats.
A nice red dawn played out as I neared the top, so I copped a seat in the reconstructed sleeping circle south of the summit.

I returned on a slightly different route, coming across a rattler, a saguaro hawks nest, what I think may be some of the remains of the old Hedgepeth Ranch, and not one but two wigs. :-s

It may not be much of a mountain, but starting from my porch, it's hard to beat.
