Brief break along the Mauria River on the extended drive from Oamaru to Nelson. These falls were created by a landslide from the 1929 Murchison earthquake. There was a kayak access trail to the top of the cliff falls, but we weren't sure if it was to bypass the falls or used to go over them.

Perhaps both!? The eddies below each side of the falls seemed treacherous. We learned later that several people have drowned here after ignoring posted no swimming signs.
