| partners | | I received an invite to hike with the Bobbsey Twins, who were camping up on the rim north and east of Forest Lakes.
It wasn't going to be anything too crazy, because even at 7,300 feet, it was still going to be warm in the sun.
This was new territory for all three of us. We dropped into Wildcat Canyon and headed downstream for one of the promised highlights of the hike. Wildcat Spring was not only dry, but there was no indication that it even existed. We continued on, enjoying the geology and the ease of travel, while dodging the moderate patches of poison ivy.
Having had enough of Wildcat Canyon, we climbed out and took a nice break in the shade and the welcome breeze.
Smith Canyon had a slightly different feel, with more pronounced benches making travel slightly easier. It also had noticeably less poison ivy. Ultimately, we'd had enough of canyon life and popped out, heading back to their camp. It was approaching 90 degrees, and the few scattered clouds seemed to purposely stay away from us.
It was good hiking with the misfits again. |
