Potholes 1.3 mi / 100' - Follows the outlet of Silver Lake dam to a nice series of scuplted cascades and pools. Some of the trail is in the 2021 Caldor Fire burn zone.
Lake Margaret 5.1 mi / 600' - About 75% of the trail is in burn zone but Caples Creek and the area around Lake Margaret survived untouched.
Kirkwood Lake loop 2.3 mi / 200' - Cabins and a scout camp surround the small lake. Park along Highway 88 just across from the Kirkwood resort entrance to avoid the $10 fee.
Sentinel Trail 4.2 mi / 1000' - Unmarked start along the Kirwood resort road just south of the Timber Creek area, wander up dirt roads under a ski lift to a nice forested singletrack climb to the ridge and junction with Thunder Mountain trail.
Shealor Lake 2.4 mi / 600' - Up and over a ridge down to a lovely lake, great swimming on a warm day. |
