| no partners | | Excellent long lasso route from the Crabtree trailhead into Emigrant Wilderness, mainly on trails 20E16 and 20E17. Just NW and outside of Yosemite NP, this area has great scenery with lots of well-constructed and maintained trails offering loop and backpacking options.
Went counter-clockwise, with early season conditions making for abundant water everywhere and lingering snow covering the trail on shaded and north-facing slopes above about 8000'. Did at least a dozen creek crossings with knee-to-waist ice-water wading required. Sunny conditions gave way to some light afternoon thundershowers. |
