I decided to hike it in the morning before heading out of the campground for the day. Glad I did. The destination is a spring/riparian spot where the steep cliff bands start. The draw was supposed to be the trees there, but for me this hike was notable for impressive displays of cacti and ocotillos! Evidence of historic ranching abounds in the area as well.
For an incredible and detailed account of some of the history and zany characters associated with this place, do a search for "the stockman and the carpenter" (ZiaNet). You won't be disappointed! |
