Just a quick jaunt out to Big Lake in search of fall colors... This loop seemed like a good option since about 3 miles of it is in a burn scar that is now filled with millions of aspens. Unfortunately, the younger aspens seem to have mostly lost their leaves, although there were a few vibrant patches. Outside the burn scar, the mature aspens were pretty much at their peak, with a nice mix of yellow, orange, and a touch of red on a few of them. I actually kind of like when they're mixed in with conifers.

Not a bad way to spend a couple hours, it was almost too warm out there.

Autumn Foliage Observation Substantial
Many of the mature aspens were on fire. Younger ones seem to have mostly lost their leaves. Probably the last weekend for aspens in the WMs.
