Ridgeline trail starts right at the Paloma Community Park entrance circle, winds it's way up to Golden Cliffs (Westwing trail), descends as "West Winging It" trail to Speckled Rattler. I took Speckled Rattler north to MUP-A east, unnamed trail to the base of New River Dam, clockwise on Compass Rose, Keefer Hill up to Granite. A short unnamed trail over the saddle to Buckhorn/Lupine, which is a fantastic, smooth, flowy trail that eventually dumps you out into a community on Eastwing Vista Trail (road), just north of Jomax. I took some community bike paths west working my way down to Jomax and then north on a community trail along New River. This dropped me back onto Speckled Rattler, down to Crankset which takes you all the way back to the beginning at Ridgeline. Challenging loop. Great temps. Saw 3 mountain bikers, one of which chased me almost all the way on Buckhorn/Lupine before I finally gave up and let him by, a jogger who caught me on a bio break at the base of New River Dam, a hiker on Ridgeline, and a hiker on Lupine. |
