| no partners | | | Trekked up to Wickenburg with the fat bike to check out some new MTB trails, called Twin Peaks, across the US 60 from the Wickenburg Municipal Airport. Did a tour of the perimeter trails in a clockwise direction. Trails were worn in enough to follow, no markers at any intersections. Lots of cattle tracks and poop criss-crossing the trails. Old US 60 bisects the trail system. Trail head is at the western end of Stagecoach Road off Flying E Ranch Road. Stopped to chat with a 75 year old Stagecoach Road resident who was walking his dog. Super friendly guy who just moved to AZ this summer to be closer to his kids and grandkids. Didn't see anyone out on the loop today. I did meet two out of the three trail creators/maintainers when I returned to my van, they were getting ready to head out on a ride. Not sure that I'd come up to Wickenburg to hike these trails, but they would be great for trail running. Trails are on state trust land, so be sure to bring your permit. |
