This was an explore in an area dubbed the "Hall of Horrors," referring to a couple of long fins in the rock formations that create a slot-canyon-type experience.
It took us a bit to find the actual Hall, but on the way, we ended up exploring some other fun scrambles among, under, and around the granite slabs.
The Hall itself consists of two parallel corridors--one a bit wider and shorter than the other. Bothe exceeded my expectation and were a highlight of the day. The narrower one has a beehive near the east end (which was signed as a warning at the outset). The bees were not active/aggressive, but when we saw a few more flying around as we got closer to the East side, we didn't push our luck, and turned around.
Saw our first rock climbers out in this area as well.
A great pitstop in the area! |
