There is actually a trail called Bell Rock Climb that starts you out. Cool. However, this trail levels out pretty quickly then it’s up to you to follow the use trail that seems best. I got to the base of the vertical stack and felt good with that. I was up there before 6am and was surprised to see 3 groups already scrambling on the sandstone below me. Beautiful morning. Clouds and temps were awesome. Chilled for a bit before heading down.
Wanted to get a few more miles so I briefly followed the Rector Connector/Bypass to the Bell Rock Pathway which I took to get to the Courthouse Loop. It’s been awhile since I’ve been on Courthouse. Nice trail, but it took longer to connect to the Big Park Loop. In my mind it was more on the southeast side. Took the out portion of the Big Park Loop and then took the Middle Trail as an in and out before heading back to the TH.
Pleasant day Sedona. When isn’t it? When I got back to the TH parking lot was full, but I only encountered 9 people on the hike. Not too bad for Sedona. Minimal wildlife. I had chipmunk show me how it was done on Bell Rock. Showoff Also, had a whole pack of coyotes great me as I started my hike. I didn’t see them, but it sounded like there were 50 on the other side of the hill. |
