Early morning hike at the Cave Creek Preserve. Starting from the Go John TH did a loop going CCW. The longest individual trail in the preserve, this offers a great opportunity to get to the north side of the hills. I was surprised to see the fire burns healing nicely, though it looked like there had been another small burn since my last visit. I thought I was going to have the trails to myself until I reached the Overton juncture. I then passed a group of 2, 14 and then 3 horseback riders. If you’re hiking, getting out early is the way to go. It wasn’t too bad, but temps were already in the 90’s. Wildlife was just lizards and rabbits.
