Something close yet not quite one of the usual very local fall-backs.
So we decided to check out the Bush-Beeline Triangle again to see how it fared ince our last trip in back in March.
Initially there were no horses, just a few photographers seeking said horses. It was kind of funny because as we ascended one direction with two loudly-speaking photographers a bit behind, descending the other hill come a group of horses, so of course the two broke off to pursue photo opportunities with the horses.
That worked for us as we wished for more solitude... and I've encountered enough of the horses to last a lifetime.
Although I'd hiked and mountain-biked in the general area numerous times over the last half-dozen years, there was one hill I had never been on, so that would become the goal for the hike. Likely the main reason I had not was the lack of even faint horse trails, which actually made sense as there were plenty of more-direct and well-traveled trails between water & feed sources than climbing a rocky hill.
Took a few photos at the 'summit' and started heading back. By the looks of the fresh erosion in almost every wash crossing, I doubt I'll be mountain-biking out this way anytime soon.
(Maybe when I get an eBike to provide extra oomph crossing the soft sandy areas... yeah right, like that will ever happen. I may be 3/4 of a century old, but I can still pedal) |
