Thought I would do a compilation of my Autumn Color Chase, starting in October. I did a few hikes as well, but hard to do a bunch of triplogs and photosets on the phone, so just a narration of multiple trips from October to now, posting photos that I may have taken with the camera that are currently on my phone.

I am sneaking a couple of wildlife shots in as well.

Started pretty much chasing Fall in September, up on the rim, but was too early except for the ferns. Did get a nice Osprey shot though. Big rains started the night before I left up there and followed me all the way to the valley, where street flooding was the worst I'd seen in decades.

Early October saw me in the White Mountains for Aspen. Some were good, especially the young ones and a few older ones, but the rest were holding out. Tropical Storm Priscilla arrived and my camp became a serious mudfest, so I rode out the last 3 days holed up in a hotel in Show Low. It was the right call and the hotel let me use their hose to clean gear and by the time I left, all the gear was clean and dry and the storm was pretty much over.

Mid October I was in California, spreading my Mom's ashes at Big Bear Lake. She went to High School and graduated there in the late 40s. It was her favorite place in the world and she joins her twin sister there. My Dad and their dog also joined her. I purposely waited to try to catch Fall colors there too, but almost waited too long. My campground was covered in snow, but Fall colors were still full swing. I visited my cousin down below for a few days and then went to Idyllwild for a bit. I had been to Big Bear before but never to Idyllwild and the San Jacintos.

The end of October I spent below the rim. Tried to do See, but got there too late on a Saturday and didn't even bother to park. Went elsewhere for Maple fixes in the area.

Beginning of November was Sedona time. Hiked West Fork and my back was feeling good enough to do the whole thing even after hours of camera time, but a little after mile 3, an older gentleman did a face plant landing on a rock and split his head open. I was the only one that had phone service, so I stayed to help. He was insisting on trying to hike back to the car, but was very slow and the light was starting to fade, it was getting cold, and he had shorts on with no jacket or long sleeves. I turned around and went with him and his wife. We met the paramedics about mile 1.5 and they took over. And I photographed the rest of the way out, before the light turned to darkness.

On the way back from Sedona, I realized that I screwed up. I forgot that the Supermoon was that night. Should have stayed in Sedona one more hour. I did stop in Camp Verde for an overnight.

Mid November, I was picking up MN friends at Flagstaff airport and driving to Marble Canyon at the beginning of our early Thanksgiving storm. Fall was definitely starting there too, but the clouds stole the show. 2" of snow at the Flag airport when I dropped them back off.

Not sure if I'll have any more Autumn to show, but there is still December, so maybe.
