| no partners | | This past June-2023, I was able to plan and spend an enjoyable 6nts/7days at this, my favorite Mogollon Rim Campsite area. I had originally planned a second Summer'23 trip back in August, but due to our seemingly never ending and continuing 110F to 115+F PHX area days, along with the forecasted and active Monsoon weather on the Rim this past August, I was just not able to pull off another week visit in August.
For mid-October'23, I had originally wanted to make a return week trip back to the [ Camp Grasshopper - Salome Wild Boundary Area ] to Vehicle Camp and day hike the off-trail route that Oregon_Hiker and I did one year ago on 10/14/22 where I had lost my Smartphone which had 7 years of not backed up memorable- personal, family, and other pictures. I was planning on re-hiking daily this same 10/14/22 route as many times in a week as it would take to find that lost smartphone of mine. The phone would obviously be no longer working, but all my personal pics were on the smartphone MicroSD card which I hoped might be resurrect able.
Well, after much thought, I decided that it was just too risky and frankly dangerous for me to go here by myself, to this very remote and more serious driving 4-WD only area.
So, with the walls of my small residence once again closing in and me definitely needing to "get out of Dodge", our Mogollon Rim in mid-October with the Big Tooth Maple in Prime Autumn Colors would be a much safer and more enjoyable choice for me 
As many times as I have vehicle camped and hiked our Mogollon Rim - Cabin Loop Area trails and off-trail, I have never been up here to camp for a week in the middle of October during Prime Autumn- Big Tooth Maple Season 
So, I accidently timed this trip perfectly! In my 3 of 8 days stay, I off-trail hiked 4 short Big Tooth Maple areas off FR137, FR321, FR139, and FR398.. all 4 of these off- trail hikes were in their "extreme" Big Tooth Maple Autumn Colors Bliss.. very special it was! |
