| partners | | We joined 9L, Chumley and Ryan to hike Ash Canyon for color and then a run up Bassett Peak. The color was not as spectacular as years past but the upper canyon was definitely the best foliage dispaly. Ran into fellow Hazers 00blackout and DesertNymph and chatted with them for a bit. There was the usual crowd in the canyon for the fall color but it dispered over the course of the hike.
After taking our time in Ash Canyon we regrouped at the upper spring to have a snack before the final ascent to Bassett Peak. Hike up to the peak is totally diffent hike than the canyon; however very cool for it's own reasons. Made it to the summit about 1pm and took another good break to take in the views and some good converstation with the group.
Then it was back down the same way. Not too many pictures on the way down with the fading light muting out some of the scenery and colors. Reached the trailhead about 5pm. Unfortunately we could't stay another night with the group and had to drive back to Phoenix that night but still worth the trip! |
