| partners | | Joined Chumley and 9L for a snow hike in Bear Canyon and Fred Haught. Normally we would not be up there this time of year with deeper snow but with the abnormal winter the hike worked out well. Followed the AZT up to the rim from Washington Park before heading over to upper Bear Canyon.
Encounted the expected snow once in the canyon. The snow was not super deep but enough for wet feet. We also had lots of crossing so dry shoes was not an option. We continued down Bear Canyon before exiting and making our way over to Fred Haught Trail.
Once on Fred Haught we dropped into the canyon where we had some wet crossings and really nice flow in the creek. Took a lunch break at a cool camp spot at the confluence of Fred Haught and General Springs. After lunch we junctioned with the AZT and followed that back to the rim.
Dropped back down off the rim and followed the AZT back to Washington Park. Hiking in the snow wasn't easy but it was cool to see all the drainages blasting with tons of water |
