While looking around in the vicinity of a known Hohokam platform mound that I've been to before I noticed a bunch of "anomalies" that looked weird so I went out to investigate. When I got to the first one I'd marked I noticed it was a clear depression (a foot or two) in the flat desert. And then I noticed a lot of broken pottery around it and started thinking that it could be a pithouse "remnant".
As I continued around hitting the waypoints I had marked this became obviously true. Cool! I hadn't expected this would work - but it makes sense that there was plenty of habitation near the platform mound. I'm calling this a Hohokam pithouse town.
