| no partners | | | Wow! Just the drive in and up to the trailhead was spectacular. Almost from the gitgo there are amazing hoodoos and formations. We had a gorgeous day with temps in the low 60's and sunny skies with some great clouds. This was a photographer's paradise; I took hundreds of shots. The hike is not for the faint of heart; starting around 10:30am we were hoofing it to do the full 9.6 miles before sunset and were fully spent by the end. Heart of Rocks is truly the crown jewel of the trip with so many delightful formations and views in such a short span. I marvelled at the trail building as well; in so many areas there were Herculean efforts undertaken at one time to create these sturdy and well thought out trails. We all owe so much to those CCC volunteers! |
