Beautiful crisp cold November morning on the Bixler Saddle Tail. The trail is in great shape, however prior years of heavy drought conditions have taken its toll on the surrounding forest. Overall this will always be a special hike with awesome rock formations and a large beautiful oak grove that I simply must see in the summer. A bit of good new for this trail is that the recent "Twin Fire" that ravaged parts of the northern and western slopes of Bill Williams Mountain this summer completely missed the entire route with no visible evidence of the fire. Although the trail is in great shape, FR45, which accesses this hike, is currently very rocky with many segments requiring slow cautious driving. Four-wheel drive with low range is recommended for accessing this trailhead.
The first six photos were taken along the Bixler Saddle Trail. The remaining four photos are random images from my camping trip and one fall color photo taken near Dugas on the way home.
