| no partners | | This is the second half of my hike. I waited until I didn't need a headlamp to start this portion up Siphon Draw. The same owl was being irritating. The ascend up Flatiron was a little salty. I spent a lot of time looking back at the most incredible moon I've ever seen. It was white then turned into a huge tangerine. I went into Tibber-mode as much as I can . What I saw..can't be described in words or pictures. The last push up to the Flatiron was filled with unbelievable light...everywhere you looked was like a photographers portfolio. The sun warmed me for about an hour...then it was the coldest portion of this or last nights hike.
I ended up putting on a long sleeve, fleece, and jacket. I also put on my winter gloves and my ear warmer thing. It was bone chilling cold. The wind was relentless. This lasted for the next 3-4 hours of the hike. I stoppped for lunch and 3 bagged my blue cats, purple hats, red bats, orange pumpkins, green spiders, and yellow ghosts. I was now ready for anything. I didn't change into a short sleeve until I was at the West Boulder saddle. And as an added bonus...I found an extra pack of yumminess.
As Chris would say...it was kinda a difficult hike.
The ride home after being up over 24 hours was uneventfull. I spent all day on the 30th playing nursemaid to my daughter who had her wisdom yanked. I'll call her Alvin for the next few days.
edit: oh yeah...The city lights were awesome. |
