| no partners | | People every where. Guessing somewhere around 200-250. We got there on Thursday about 10:30, parking lot was full and we had to park about 1/2 mile up the road. This was our 3rd year for doing West Fork in October, so we thought we would out smart some by going on a week day. Wrong. We did about 8 miles round trip on the trail. After the first mile or so a lot of crowd thinned out. Our dog (Molly) loves this trail, but it does cause some looks when she crosses this creek with the grace of a flat footed water buffalo when passing some of the non-hikers and their $300 tennis shoes. I would say a good 7-10 days of peak time yet for fall colors, maybe longer depending on any wind/rain storms that may come along.
And yes, next October we'll be back fighting the crowds again. |
