| no partners | | | Decided to call in sick today, and go for a hike. On the driver there we saw 2 coyotes and 4 mule deer. The hike down was uneventful. We hiked down to the dam and had it all to ourselves. I brought my mask and snorkel along and I was so glad I did. The waster was crystal clear and full of fish. I think I saw Apache golden trout and all kinds of other cool fish. Some looked like catfish and other looked like suckers with no barbels. There were some really neat pinkish blue fish. It looked like the aquarium display of the amazon. There was all kinds of plants and roots in the water and tons of fish. The water was the perfect temperature too. We had to drag ourselves awa, and hike back up to the top. What can be said about the return trip that has not been said before! Long, hot and nasty! It was 95f at the bottom and 84f at the parking area. I noticed a lot of people signed the trail register and said how the hike sucked because the water was all murky and brown. I can't belive so many people hike tot he bottom and stop before the springs start. Oh and I found one of the sources of the spring it was a single hole off to the side. I was amazed at the pressure of the water,it was like a mini-geyser |
