Boated up to the "Hole in the Rock" and then hiked/climbed up to the monument, which commemorated Mormon pioneers, who managed to get a couple dozen wagons 2,000+ feet down this crack in Glen Canyon, on their way to settle the San Juan mission. Climbing up and down, it was hard to imagine any way to get a team of horses and wagons down such a rock and uneven incline. Apparently, they had to use a couple of blind horses to lead the first wagon down, as the sighted horses had too much common sense to give it a go ....
