| partners | | | We started wtih Delicate Arch & the Devil's Garden Primitive Loop & then drove around hitting a variety of other areas. The stops were fairly quick and we did some short hiking. It was a good way to end our day in Arches. Our plan is the Islands District in Canyonlands the next day. |

| no partners | | Our first day in Arches Nat'l Mon. we did a short hike at Park Avenue.
A hike to North, South, Turret and Double Arch. Between Turret and Double the rain turned to hail with 50 to 60 mph winds. The pea sized hail being driven horizontally against the face felt like being scrubbed with course sandpaper. It hurt.
A short hike around Balanced rock.
And another to Tunnel Arch and Pine Tree Arch. Bad weather forced us to turn back before reaching Landscape Arch. |

| no partners | | After successful AZT presentations at the Glen Canyon Visitor Center and for the City Council of Page, I headed to Moab for a Gossamer Gear Trail Ambassador Weekend.
Most of the folks arrived later in the day so I went for a hike in Arches before meeting everyone back at the retreat house. Despite all the warnings about the "primitive trail" I made it through the loop.  Great hike with 8 arches. It was a chilly but beautiful day with patches of white snow and ice on the red rock. Made me happy to have my microspikes for the slippery parts.
Caught an outrageous sunset at Balanced Rock before going and meeting the other Trail Ambassadors, some of the most well-known names in long-distance hiking. | no partners | | Storms were on the horizon and the day was getting shorter. The feet were getting tired and the thirst was there. But still needed to see just one more thing.
Balanced Rock was close, and quick and short. Took a few happy snaps and walked the short trail to watch a thunderstorm over towards Moab. Pretty way to end the hiking day.
Saddled up and drove back into town to Pasta Jays for brews/wine and killer Italian. |

| partners | | Great hike with the boys started at Echo Canyon back up Hailstone to Mushroom Rock up to Big Balanced Rock to Heart of Rocks Loop down the Sarah Deming and finally Lower Rhyolite to Visitor Center and back to Campground.
Awesome views just nice chilly wind to keep things cool but with layers still comfortable. |
