greenbelt/az canal route to pima, back on crosscut
had never been north of where the greenbelt meets the az canal
actually a continuation of the greenbelt leading to hayden
would take that and loop back on az canal next time
not busy, not windy = nice ride

This was a hike to the summit of Tempe Butte, aka Hayden Butte, the high point of the town of Tempe.

I parked at a public parking lot at the Rio Salado Rowing Club. From there I walked across Tempe Town Lake and then made my way to the trail/path leading to the summit. The slick rocks at the top were slippery from overnight rains, and the wet soles on my shoes didn't help with traction. I gingerly made my way to the highest boulder, and used five points of contact to drop back down to the trail.

Synopsis
This is the first time in a while that I have walked on city streets. If you ask me, things are more civilized out in remote wilderness areas.
