Hiked Ridgeline trail returning via Javelina with the family as our weekly fitness hike.

Victoria's parents dropped to Javelina midway through, we went to the end but took the easy way back as Victoria was getting tired.

Eanáir is finally learning to keep his hat on and actually complains when it falls off now.

Lots of mountain bikers out today

Looking forward to next weekends trip to Red Rocks and Valley of Fire...

Hiked a series of easier trails north of Ridgeline trail at South Mountain with the family.

Victoria wasn't feeling up to our usual level of difficulty so we dialed it back a bit and did something a little different.

There were quite a few folks out enjoying the warm weather and we explored some trails we don't normally do.

A good fitness hike

Hiked Ridgeline Trail with the family as our weekly fitness hike.

Victoria's Grandpa was determined to actually finish it this time (or at least her Grandmother would not let him give up lol). They both managed the full hike in although he was definitely getting tired by the end of it.

On the return they took Javelina Canyon back as it has far less AEG. We returned via Ridgeline to get as much elevation as possible.

We made it back at almost the same time (had just enough time to get Eanair into his car seat before they got back.

No bees and not too crowded this time.

Hiked Ridgeline Trail with the family.

It is Phoenix Metro hiking season! The trail was very busy, parking lot was full and we had to park on the street some distance away by BAE systems. The grandparents made it up the first two hills but then went back by the flatter trail that connected on the left hand side. I need to get them route scout on their phones so there is no chance of them getting lost when they make detours like this.

Victoria, Eanair, and I went the rest of the way. Eanair slept through the middle 3rd of the hike but woke up for the end, he was starting to get hungry, will need to pack him a snack next time.

Weather was great had a good time with our weekly fitness hike

Hiked Ridgeline trail with Victoria as our weekly fitness hike.

We did not intend to hike ridgeline but rather set out to do Mormon trail through fat man's Pass and the hidden valley. Victoria was joining me (a rarity in the summer) and so we opted for a more fun trail option. Unfortunately, the city of Phoenix had other plans. They had closed the gate to the parking lot and had signs up saying the trail was closed doe to heat. Except it was before 9 am and there was no heat advisory in effect that day. There were still a few cars in the parking lot so they must have just recently closed the trail. This was really annoying, not only was it early and not hot yet but they were not even following their own rules for closing trails during heat advisory's.

Annoyed that our preferred trail was closed but undeterred in our search for a workout hike, we headed east to BAE systems and found that they had not closed the trailhead for ridgeline trail. It seems the Phoenix Park Rangers are consistently inconsistent in their enforcement of rules. So we parked up and did Ridgeline instead. It wasn't as pretty but was easy enough for Victoria.

The hike itself was good, it was completely empty and we got a good workout in.

A little loop to take advantage of the cool weather and celestial delights. MDN has newly cut switchbacks coming down to the Beverly junction along with a bunch of new sign posts. A lot of headlamps visible on the trails for the first half, but then mostly dark thereafter. Moon finally appeared, but it was still too low to turn off the headlamp by the time I finished.
