2075x2, 1786x1, 1871x2.

My typical route takes me to 1871 first, then to 2075. I did that, hit 1786 on the way down the other side and was going to hit the Circumference Trail back to the TH. I decided to see where the old road went to instead. It dead ends at couple of mines, part way up.

I decided to boulder my way back to the top of 2075 from there and then hit 1871 on the way back.

I saw nobody until I finished 2075 the 2nd time. Cool temps and gentle breezes.

A leg stretcher on the way home. The air was moist from last nights rain. The tops of the McDowells and peaks around Cave Creek were obscured in cloud cover.

First of two hikes this morning. Got to the TH around 8am. Chilly out. All the more reason to keep up a good pace. Took the trail up to the ridge and then decided to hit the prominence on the south side. It’s been a few years since visiting this vista and it’s easy to access. Hasn’t changed any. From there went up to the peak. Couple of trails that intertwine on their way….they all lead to the some spot. From the top took the trail that heads down the north side of the mountain. I like this back side trail. Interacts nicely with the surroundings. At the bottom took the Circumference trail clockwise back to the TH. Nice way to start the morning. No wildlife. Past three hikers on the way up.

The light rain had just stopped as I parked in the lot at the end of Rose Garden Lane. A white van, rather large, was parked there when I arrived.

There were numerous use trails from the TH, but ultimately a defined route led up the mountain. I reached the lower peak (1871') first, where I encountered the van's occupants. Twelve eclectic gentlemen, likely between 20 and 40, adorned with neck and face tattoos, were enjoying a smoke break. I greeted them and continued to Peak 2075.

With clear skies thanks to the morning rain, I enjoyed impressive views from Peak 2075. I descended the north side to the circumference trail to explore Union Mine, marked on the Topo map.

Fenced off but with an unlocked gate, I peered into the vertical shaft's seemingly bottomless depths. Next, I headed toward Scarlet Ridgeline (aka Roudy's Ridgeline).

A mildly interesting area rich in mining remnants, Scarlet Ridgeline offered a climb up the small peak 1646, rewarding me with stunning views of SR101. On my way back, I discovered a 30-foot-long horizontal mine shaft.

I've driven past this area hundreds of times without stopping. It's definitely worth revisiting if I'm short on time and need a workout hike.

After work hike with a coworker. Did a straight up and down. Wanted a fast pace, so we pushed it going up. Got sidetrack a couple of times coming down by following a false trail. But adjusted quickly. Trail was busy. Encountered about 10 other users. Nice to get out with Art. Conversation was minimal because of the pace, but it is always neat introducing a new trail to someone.

After work hike. Surprised that I don’t hike this area more often. It’s very close to work and doesn’t take much time. Also surprised, that out of all the months, July is by far the most popular month to hike this peak. Odd.
Got to the TH around 4pm. Parking for this trail is at the end of a road on a cul-de-sac with enough room for about 5 cars. I’ve never had a problem here and today was no exception. Took one of the more direct routes to the top. The trail kind of spider webs after the first saddle so there might have been an alternative that was a little more direct. I stayed on what I felt was the most established trail. Hit the peak and then continued north and west down a trail that goes down the backside of the peak. The trail is well established and easy to follow. I had done this backside once before and I thought the trail spider webbed as it descended, but today it seemed to be a solid single track. I eyed what I think is “Rowdy’s Ridge line”, but (if I’m right) you have to swing around a neighborhood to get to it. If nothing else, there looks to be a lot of user trails in the area. Maybe something for a future day. When I got to the base I connected to (what I consider to be) the circumference trail and continued going in a clockwise manner. Some neat large boulders on the northeastern side. Probably the best part of the circumference. Weather was warm and humid with dark clouds building up in the Seven Springs/Spur Cross area. It was moving my direction, but I was done before it got close. No other users today and saw only 1 chipmunk.

Easy after work hike. Went up the east side to the peak and then back down to the saddle. At the saddle I took a trail (looked like a former road) down the west side. Once at the bottom went CCW and hit the upper of the three tiered cut in the side of the mountain. Don't think I've ever been up there before. Not what I expected. Higher and a more isolated feeling than I anticipated. Wildlife minimal. Few lizards and quail. Weather was nice a few clouds and decent temps.

Nice little hike close to home. This is one of my go-to hikes when I don't have a lot of time. You could feel the humidity starting to increase this morning; Monsoon not too far away. The summit is a nice place to get views and watch planes come and go from Deer Valley Airport. Not many people today but some buzzards and a rodent or two. Luckily no snakes today. :)

Wanted id identify a flower and a tree. Spur of the moment research landed me on 21st just south of E Lone Cactus. Guessing this is where those into rock aerobics park for Beardsley Boulders. Kinna cool to materialize something I've loosely heard of for 15+ years!

First Impressions
Interestingly this area is managed by Phoenix Parks and Recreation. Rose Lane signage just says pets on leash and such. No signage about staying on trails or use of the area. Which sorta makes sense as there aren't any designated trails. Apparently a legal roam as you please? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Hike
Light spider use-trails everywhere. A few wider thoroughfarish routes, drainages and an old road. Desert is lush from substantial October rains along with a couple recent storms.

Wore sandals. Fine for the approach over desert washes but not for the pimple sized mountain. Trail runners would have been a better choice. The geology is NOT piestewa schists rather like Camelback exploded. Various sized Precambrian granite boulders. Grippy fun with ball bearing pea sized slippers on the ground.

Hit the summit. Lots of peaks to identify. I got the easy ones!

Synopsis
A solid 3 of 5 for today's hike. I enjoyed the free for all lure of yesteryear and the current lush desert! Yet I'm going with a 2. It's an abused area with a low perk destination. A plane flys over every few minutes, highway hum to the south and the hum of some factory to the north. Instalikers would undoubtedly lose followers. This isn't a group hike of the week destination. It's cool exploring if you live in the neighborhood!
